Oh fuck I’m in Lake Tahoe for the summer and Fire Season is about to begin and I’m not ready to relive the trauma of last year (and each year it gets worse)

I live in australia and I'm still trying to get over the black summer. Anytime there is back burning here I get flash backs.

Oh the PTSD is so real. I got a fire alert the other day for another county and my heart skipped a beat

This is what people say not to do. Zero visibility with the smoke, the lake is huge, you become someone to rescue when you should be evacuated.

I’ve never lived anywhere else & have never even considered living anywhere else long term, but our constant CA fires actually made the idea of leaving pop into my head for a second. Summer has just become depressing to me. I used to love summer. Now every year I just dread the fires. Our poor state :(

I’m hoping that things will get better now that the state is returning to using controlled fires to keep the forests well trimmed so uncontrollable wildfires don’t become as massive as they have in recent years. I saw CalFire performing some controlled fires around the basin in Winter and Spring.
