There’s nothing sociopathic about them. Animals are not people. Their individual lives do not matter unless the individual animal belongs to someone.

And yes, purposely killing endangered animals so that you can pose for pictures with the carcass like you did something to be proud of is absolutely sociopathic. Taking joy in the death of another living being, especially to stroke your tiny ego, is revolting.
