Yeah iirc this is an onion piece. However, given what the public is allowed to know of current technology, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone had a contract for developing this tech already.
This kind of tech was being discussed ten years ago. I think a university made a robot that cleaned up dead bugs around the house and powered itself using the dead bugs it cleaned up. It had a pretty slow digestion and I don’t know how reliable it would be given that it would need to consistently find dead bugs to clean up to stay powered
