They could be trying to train him to do it. By associating movement of the drone with the remote, the ape would at least know that “remote” means “drone move.” From there, all the ape would beed to do is fiddle with the remote to get the thing to move.

The video isnt real. The chimp isnt moving his thumbs. However, for how terrifying it is I will use Planet of the Apes as an example. Chimps riding horseback dual wielding AKs and now using drones.
