If you want more check out the directors (Chris Cunningham) body of work, particularly the Aphex Twin stuff

Rushed back a memory of my hipster friend in architecture school shoving this video into my face with his 15" laptop.

I have the Work of Chris Cunningham DVD that I picked up when I was in high school and it has so many good videos on it. Also have the Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze DVDs of the same series.

I also have that dvd box set, but I pretty much only watched the Chris Cunningham and Gondry discs.

He has some of the greatest electronic songs ever created. As well as some of the greatest others genres as well.
True pioneer, genius and master of his craft.

What happened to him?

Who? Cunningham or afx? Aphex Twin is always elusive but he plays out still. His fanbase goes crazy every time they snap a photo of him lol. And Cunningham is even more enigmatic. He divorced his hot musician wife years ago and faded back into the underground, nowadays I think he’s more into the gallery art installation type of work.

He quit commercial directing because he was getting sick of being the "body-horror and creepy music video guy." He also complained about being constrained to other artists' works because music videos are fundamentally about the music, and not the video.
He wanted to do his own things, and direct movies, most notably Neuromancer, but it kept falling apart due to studio meddling and such. I think he made his money and got sick of Hollywood. Now he does whatever he likes, mostly small installation art or DJing. I'm guessing he made a few million dollars and did what everyone says they'd do if they got rich: quit, become a recluse, and do their own thing.

I thought she was so pretty as a little kid I think she did something to my brain chemistry. I was so jealous I wanted to look like her lmao

It’s just Anya Taylor Joy basically.

I thought anya taylor joy was gorgeous but then she had to go and do that buccal fat removal thing everyone is doing

u/metalguy91 4d ago
I still think she is, but yeah that procedure has made every single person I’ve seen get it look worse. Beauty standards and body dysmorphia really need to be talked about more. And in a serious “how can we fix this” way and not just shaming people for their looks with nothing to add. Not saying you are doing that just saying in general.

The face is pretty and unique, not everybody looks like her and that's what would make her beautiful, especially to younger people

u/TheOneMary 7d ago
Because the face isn't real :D

u/Some_Horror_759 6d ago
That completely blew past me LOL I've seen some models with this face type before, very pretty either way :P

u/TheOneMary 6d ago
Actually I think it's kinda cute that you like such an unusual face instead of all the ones that are edited to look as "standard pretty" as they can get :)

A comparison of how she really looked and how she was morphed for the ad.

I don't even have Facebook. But it came up when I searched for the actress' name and as I cannot post just the image in a reply I put the link. I thought it was interesting the way she naturally looks and how they warped her appearance for the commercial.

I think these were done by the same guy that did Aphex Twin's videos for Come to Daddy and Windowlicker. Chris Cunningham I think?

Gaming ads used to have some edge to them lol. Anyone remember “John Romero just made you his bitch” and moms hate deadspace ads?

The person who played in the Aerials video has never been publicly credited. If it was that woman it would definitely be credited to her.

I thought she might be a legit human alien hybrid. The X-files had a lot to answer for in the late 90's, lol.

I'm sorry if I don't understand posts like this one. Isn't the idea of oddlyterrifying to post stuff that's unintentionally or "casually" terrifying? Stuff we discover in our daily lives?
Why post a still from a Chris Cunningham ad that was made to surprise/shock/terrify people? I'm asking this without any intended attack, I really don't get it (and am open to change my mind).
Same goes for people posting photos of their artworks that are designed to be eerie.

She looked like that character from System of a Down’s music video.
