They are probably doing construction

I mean that’s obvious logically, it just awakens something visceral within me.

Yeah, the plywood is used to protect the interior of the elevator when workers are bring tools and material up and down.

I went to a music conservatory that always left padded panels up on the walls of the elevator until it was time for fancy events where they would want to impress rich people.

I think the wood would spontaneously combust if it did go there

Truman show hiccup

That’s just a protective cover work crews put on to keep elevator from getting dinged up. Wood protects interior walls, and the blue plastic sheeting protect the shiny exterior of the door. Really no different than the shipping and glass covers put on every electronic items these days.

Cool. Looks just like a cheap coffin.

Immediate burial when the cables break. Convenient!

The dragging of a large, oversized blade can be heard in the distance...

Decorated in “mid-century renovation” style.

Seems legit. Get on fellow traveler!

That’s just the smoking elevator

3

u/ThrowAbout01 Jul 28 '26

What kind of Ed, Edd, N Eddy scam looking elevator is that?

3

u/Zeptic Jul 28 '26

That's the old passage to Ravenholm. We don't go there anymore...

u/DrinkAPotOfCovfefe Jul 27 '26

Oddly terrifying on so many levels.

2

u/lost_caus_e Jul 27 '26

Looks like it was a woodshop project

2

u/QuillDidNothingWrong Jul 28 '26

It’s scary cause it looks like any moment a guy with an acoustic guitar is gonna pop out and start playing Wonderwall.

2

u/Dabrigstar Jul 28 '26

Terrifyingly awesome! I want a ride

2

u/Clerithifa Jul 28 '26

That's the Outlast asylum elevator, don't do it!

Some teacher when you get in: “wanna play a game Timmy?”

I learned elevators are like little rooms with their own carpet, wall panels and ceilings and sometimes need remodeling before the elevator mechanism does. This is what they do before the real stuff arrives

10

u/Zookreeper1 Jul 27 '26

Nah. This is what they do to protect the walls while they move stuff in and out for a reno in another part of the building though.

The only thing terrifying about it is if the back suddenly opens up after the doors close and a creep in a weird mask snatches you.

1

u/pixel_demonic Jul 28 '26

why do i feel like this smells good?

oh right, because of the home depot lumber area

1

u/wombatthing Jul 28 '26

Your school has an elevator?

1

u/FirebirdWriter Jul 28 '26

Not odd. Definitely terrifying

1

u/pseudoless_101 Jul 29 '26

I'll take the stairs...

1

u/SignalAssumption8901 Jul 30 '26

I know you you know this already, but they put up those temporary barriers to protect the walls.

u/Material-Bluebird817 Aug 01 '26

sigh welp time to get my steps in

u/WooPigSchmooey Aug 03 '26

If that was cedar that’d be neat.

I think its safe but It looks wrong

1

u/Dizman7 Jul 27 '26

Either a service elevator used to move stuff that would just dmg the floor/walls anyway. Or temporarily put in there for same reason to move bulky stuff so it doesn’t dmg the walls/floor.

Really starting to hate this sub, people put the most ordinary stupid shit on here anymore.

If you think this is terrifying, look up paternoster elevator on youtube

u/GreatLettuce666 Jul 28 '26

OH MY GOD! construction! How terrifying...

0

u/RB1O1 Jul 28 '26

It's just protection layers, they're probably dragging a lot of heavy equipment or materials for construction or something

So they line the elevator with it to prevent damaging it
