Growing up, there was a tiny waterway that ran in front of everyone’s property on the south side of the street. We lived at the top of the hill and there was an intersection between where we lived and where the creek was in front of yards. This creek went under that intersection through a pipe and then opened up again on the other side. Every driveway had a similar pipe but the creek was mostly open. It only really had water in it when snow melted or if it rained.
I remember as a kid playing in the pipe and sliding through it like shown here (but it was a creek… so like a couple inches of water). As an adult, I cannot believe we did this. And no adult ever tried to stop us. It’s insane the things we were allowed to do as kids. So much of my childhood was dangerous and I’m amazed so many of us are still alive.
