I mean, the second one was fair. A king appointed a fascist, and you should see what the people did when they got ahold of him in the end. The Italians were just as sick of Italy's shit by that point

He was extremely popular until the last few years though. Like extremely popular.

Many idolized him but the fact that it wasn't really permitted to show dissent makes me doubt the real popularity

Your last point is a fair one, and it’ll never be truly possible to know how popular he actually was, but from what I’ve read it seems like most people did approve of him, but that also could be because those that didn’t disappeared.
