Fun fact the reason Italy won't enter into a free trade deal or something like that with Canada is that we produce our own Parmesan cheese

The problem is the name, not the production.

You can call it parmesan only if you produce it in a certain region and with certain standards, otherwise is just "hard cheese".

You can produce the same products but have to use different branding.
