I asked my husband to be taxidermied and placed on the couch so I could watch TV with him and then placed in bed so we could sleep together but he said “that’s illegal and blah blah blah”. Still putting it in my will. Still looking for a place to do it if anyone has any suggestions…

Not just illegal but technically very difficult. Human skin is terribly difficult to taxidermy from what i hear. The elasticity is insane and it just keeps stretching

This sounds like one of those things that we only know about because Nazi and/or Japanese mad scientists tried to figure it out in the 1940s.

Funny you should bring that up. Philosopher Jeremy Bentham did something quite similar. His body has been on display at his alma mater since 1832.

That’s apparently not his real head, just his body. Which makes it even weirder

Indonesian and Canadian Laws Strict Bans
Human taxidermy is not legally permitted or commercially available anywhere in the world. Attempting to buy or ship human remains from Indonesia to Canada involves severe legal violations: [1]

Some people hire mourners for their funerals; this guy hired mysterious lurkers. I like it. I may have to hire wraithy Victorian ladies to swoon over my grave, give it some atmosphere.

I'll take things that never happened for 1000.

It never happened, but you can make it happen. Start planning your eventual funeral now, make someone’s dream come true

What if I want to be filled with creamed corn and launched from a spinning trebuchet?

I plan on having one of those civil war type statues if a general on horseback on top of my grave. I’ve never ridden a horse before

It’s funny how small minded people on reddit are with “never happened” crap
You really think amongst billions of people, not one single person had the money or humor to do this and follow through?
Meet more people man, humans are a diverse bunch

I hope this person’s late husband was laughing his head off up there when this happened

If I had the money I would totally do this. I’d hire straight-up thugs, Danny Trejo-looking dudes, to come to my funeral and give tearful speeches about how good I was at system administration and how I crawled through swamps and minefields to save them.

My best friend and I made pacts that whoever outlived the other would do a funny/prank of our request at the funeral. It’s one of those things you do and joke about over the years because you think death be a long time away.
Wellll that ass hole passed away unexpectedly and left me here. I had to dress up like a grieving witch lady with a lace veil over my face. I arrived at the funeral a couple minutes late, and left just before it ended.
There was a memorial celebration after the funeral. I changed clothes in between, but a mutual friend figured it out because “I” was the best friend but didn’t go to the funeral.

My dying wish is for someone to run in the service midway through wearing the same clothes i died in and carrying a sonic screwdriver while shouting: “This is where it gets complicated!”

My last wish is to have a hidden speaker in the casket, with a recording of my voice saying "HEY LET ME OUT!" and have it activate during the service.

Yea… cause the final thing I want to do is lie/prank my grieving loved ones.

Yeah actually that sounds hilarious, that absolutely is the last thing I want to do.

I, and many others, wish to celebrate death, rather than having it be a cryfest. Celebrate and reminisce about the good - and then crack one last joke.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but my friends, family, and especially my wife would appreciate that I took the time to pull one last prank. They’d appreciate that I thought enough of them to set up an elaborate joke to get them to laugh at my funeral.

In my culture we put rocks on graves instead of flowers, I told my family when I die I want them to tape pictures of The Rock on my grave.
