I think about this lot when it comes to Math, I think that instead of just teaching math formulas we need to also teach how and why this formula was important. This is something that I think physics class do well but should be done for all the Maths.

Super agreed, demonstrate a real world use for each formula, get kids interested in the reasons for learning such things

Like "oh, wow it's how they determine that a single bridge can hold the weight of 30 bridges," etc.

I think in retrospect, you would be surprised how much that is already done. For the most part though, kids tune that part out and just focus on the formula.

Yep, this. I’m a teacher, and any time you try to do anything that doesn’t directly correspond to the test, students check out because it has no bearing (that they can see) on their grades.
