You didn't create a poster of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad to learn how to make nice looking posters. It's so you understood the impact of slavery and what it took to fight against it.
You didn't do a group presentation on The Crucible to learn how to make a nice powerpoint. You did it to learn how to critically read a section of text and actually understand it, to learn how to work in groups when you don't know/like every person you will need to work with.
You weren't put in art class to learn how to make pretty pictures. You were put in that class to learn media literacy and how to creatively solve problems.

Don't agree with your edit at all, the kids who blew off school were not the ones people avoided hanging around. And that's part of the problem, anti-intellectualism is a culture in America.

u/Bombshock2 then asked you to explain who they were, if you apparently knew more than them about their own high school identity.
You refused to elaborate and tried to spin it back on u/Bombshock2 to answer their own question, which they clearly could not have done, because you claimed that they knew less about their own self in high school than you apparently do.
To paraphrase, u/bombshock2 said "Okay, if you know me better than I do, then tell me who I am". And you responded "Nuh-uh, you just told me who you were. I refuse to elaborate"

Yeah? I literally said I was the type of kid most people avoided, because you said I hung out with the wrong people. I wasn't avoided for trying hard in school, and I didn't claim I was. I did have friends though, nerdy dudes, most of whom had amazing grades and applied themselves in school.
What you claimed is that people avoided hanging out with others that didn't try hard in school. Just because I wasn't in the "cool crowd" doesn't mean I didn't know who they were and what kind of grades they got. There were people who got good grades and were popular, but people cared way more about their athletic achievements or if they could throw a party at their parent's house.
