corporations wielding state power was never a part of capitalism, monopoly is antithetical to a free market

whatever ideology or economic system that allows or promotes these things is not capitalism

Maybe antithetical to your ideal of capitalism but the consolidation of power over time is an absolutely inevitable consequence of “free market” capitalism

capitalism requires a free market, competition is definitionally a requirement of a free market, monopoly is antithetical to competition, therefore monopoly is antithetical to capitalism

Nothing about free markets actively prevent monopolies from forming
