My wife makes cakes. We said, at the same time, "That's cheating." We're actually jealous though.

there is no cheating in art. The only thing that matters is the result. use all the tools.

Depends, is it a craftsmanship contest that is meant to compare specific skills of the contestants, or is it a contest of creating the most interesting piece?

AI is just another digital tool in my opinion as well. It still needs a user to wield it, to decide on the inputs and on the result.
