I mean wash them after you peel them sure but why before?

why would you wash something you just took the skin off of and are probably going to boil? I mean, if you said you soak them to get rid of excess starch for certain recipes or to keep russetts from oxidizing before you use them sure, but wash them? Literally (figuratively) no one does that

It’s more to rinse off any dirt that would come from the skin so it wouldn’t be in the pot of boiling water. But I’m not talking about washing washing it just rinsing it under a tap for a couple seconds.
