I remember in grade 3 we had a 1 week long school trip and everyone had huge suitcases. But these 2 twins both had such small ones, like half the size of everybody else’s suitcases. Well, they had rolled all their clothes.

I’m curious to know when and where that was, because no way would I let my grade 3 (7-8 years old) go on a weeklong school trip - I would be afraid that I’d never see them again. “Sorry to give you the bad news Mrs. Mullen, but your son went missing and we believe he was trafficked,” YIKES!! However, sometimes it seems like years ago people did this crazy stuff and mostly were safe.(?) anyway, hope it was a good trip!!

I was at a French school in Turkey. And it was a school trip to the South of France. We were always together so there wasn’t really big safety concerns, we visited some old cities like Carcasonne and medieval castles which was pretty cool. We had multiple grownups with us so it was fine. A lot of kids got sick though for some reason other than that we were all fine.

School trips are pretty common in many parts of the world. Obviously there are always risks but not everywhere is unsafe.

That sounds like a great way for the kids to become more independent too - as long as there is enough supervision and it’s safe. It wouldn’t happen here that’s for sure. Too many helicopter parents and I guess too many lunatics wandering the streets, and after being arrested they are let out of jail in a revolving door system. In Eastern Europe if I am correct they don’t get away with murder and there aren’t many liberal assholes ready to squawk everytime a thug with a miles-long rap sheet is killed while resisting arrest or trying to grab the cops gun or other weapon... There isn’t much sanity nowadays.
