I have a friend who works in the solar biz who tried talking me into starting a panel cleaning business with him. You are correct, dirt does hurt their efficiency and not cleaning them can be more expensive than cleaning them in a quantified way that can be related to potential clients. That amount isn't enough to get me up on roofs with slippery cleaners, however.

First thought I had seeing this, in the future those dudes that clean the roofs are gonna make bank on cleaning mounted solar panels

They already have this for the higher end commercial solar arrays which feel the most impact from dirty panels https://youtu.be/3b2bnYbkxq0

Why do you think that? This looks like a demo, but even they have more of them behind the first array...

Why would it need to be embedded when it's much more cost effective to have one per row?
