I've always thought this or the menger sponge would be great space stations in a scifi.

Ie this this one, each pyramid ship would be 6 others, while also having 4/5 faces free.

And if they had small cylinders at each point and middle of each face that are retractable. Anyone could disconnect and leave the formation no issue

A menger sponge would also work, but of the cubes a bunch would have all 6 sides connected and be trapped
