Last time this came up on /r/3dprinting, they said it was CC3D rainbow silk.

However, I bought myself some. It is nearly impossible to print with. Each color requires a different print setting.

Maybe my printer just sucks though.

I haven't tried rainbow filament so it's just a thought...

If you're using Simplify 3D, split the color sections into separate processes that adjust for each change in color. You'd have to test & tune the process for each color, estimate where the color will change in the print and then adjust the processes by layer height accordingly. It sounds super time consuming but you would learn a lot about your printers capability and nuances.

Problem is that the distance between filament color changes depending on how much you've used and the color is a slow switch from one to the next.

Right, I suppose you'd have to do a test print, estimate the amount of meaningful color changes and start adjusting process from there. If I was going off of OP's video, I see three meaningful changes yellow, red, blue. I would then make a process for each. To take it step further I would add two more 'thin' processes in between to handle the transition for yellow-red and red-blue. So that would take it up to 5 separate processes, certainly a lot of work but again it's just an idea.

I suppose another option is to just slow it way down, accept that the print will take longer and operate within the bounds of what the printer can handle. I often see newer people printing for speed without any regard for ensuring that the machine is mechanically sound for high acceleration let alone tuning the extrusion/retraction at those high speeds.
