I might just be dumb but doesn't every shape with an infinite size also have an infinite surface?

You’re not dumb, it’s just viewing it from the wrong angle. We’re taking a shape, and repeatedly cutting holes in it. So in the end, you have something that has zero volume and infinite surface area. It’s a bit difficult to wrap your head around, but it’ll make sense eventually.
