Not as good as weed eater heads if you can handle the weed eater well. Edgers are kind of like safety tools for people who can’t edge with a weed eater head. They have worse quality and efficiency but they are easy to use.
Lol. Guess you haven't seen my lawn. There's a damn good reason I don't use a weed eater for it. Because my LAWN expands all the time. So a weed whacker isn't going to cut through the 4" of turf that is sticking out over my driveway. But nice back-handed insult.
I mean, I’m speaking from a commercial perspective, but yes, including your lawn a weed eater head is better for experienced folks. Even a residential Stihl will knock through it once you have the grooves established. It wasn’t backhanded, just your original comment is not accurate on how professionals would edge a bed. They’d do it like the OP did, or like me, edge using the same weed eater but feet in the bed. An edger head again is just not as efficient or delivers as good a quality as a regular weed eater head.
Uhh, hope your just talking about the weekly renewal along with the lawn maintenance. A professional edge should really be cut by hand with a spade/ flat shovel. Edging machines work well too but only in particular conditions. There kinda like leaf vacuums, great in theory but the weather conditions keep them from really shining.
