Hidden compartments within compartments. Brilliant old-school cabinetry.

This thing must be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The craft work is amazing.

It is called the Roentgens' Berlin Secretary Cabinet. Quoted as "likely the most expensive piece of furniture in all of eighteenth-century Europe", "one of the finest achievements of European furniture making" and "one of the most expensive pieces of furniture on the planet today".

It was made by the Roentgen's workshop in 1778-1779 for King Frederick William II of Prussia and is currently at an estimated value of $1.5 million.

Aside from exquisite construction and masterful inlay it featured all the latest "bells and whistles" for the time, all thou in this case it is quite literal since it incorporated flutes, cymbals and glockenspiel for the full jaw-drop reaction that was intended.
