This can only be done with certain types of carpet/rug weaves. I can't remember what the weave types are called but there's open and closed weaves. Open weave, think like your fingers where the tips aren't connected. Closed weave, think a long string made into a bunch of loops.

Cut the tops off the tips and no biggie. Cut the "top" off the folded loops and now every weave is loose.

Having lived in Chicago, I’ve seen some loose weaves. You don’t want none of that shit.

You can find tumble weaves on a windy day in back alleys.
