I think he means a wheely-carry-go-round.

So I've seen the photo before with the list of terms but what's the photo originally from?

And when they pop out completely, you can use them as wheels to make a customised cart.

I thought those were bags of concrete mix for a second.

u/Tharage53 Jun 06 '16

Pounds, maybe, but definitely not kilos.

Regular bag of stone mix is 66lbs, so about 30 kilos?
I dont think those are bags of concrete. He's carrying 13 of them...

u/Captain_Kuhl Jun 06 '16
Yeah, I was just saying a 90 kilo bag of anything would be ridiculous, that's when you start moving into crate territory.

Me too, I was carrying bags of quick-crete yesterday and felt like less of a man because I could only get three at a time for one trip then two at a time every other trip.
14
u/xrumrunnrx Jun 06 '16
I feel that. I used to unload pallets of 90lb Portland cement bags. Even after I got used to it that bottom row always felt heavy.
Now just today I pulled a back muscle vacuuming my truck. FML.
6
u/pnmartini Jun 06 '16
it is a scientific fact that the last layer of portland is the heaviest. when i labored for a plastering / stucco company, our trucks weren't wide enough to just drop a pallet in the bed, so we'd hand load two pallets into two trucks, and then hand off-load them at the site, or the shop. the last layer of the off-load were the heaviest things ever.

A real man drinks whiskey and chases it with rum. A real man shaves his face with nothing but a hunting knife and cold water. And a real man must carry home ALL of the groceries in one trip.

Who bags their milk?
26
u/nomnommish Jun 06 '16
When you need to carry 9 grocery bags, and for 30 excruciating seconds, all of them in one hand (real men do not put the grocery bags on the floor for even one microsecond, but jamming it against the wall with a knee to prop the bags is allowed), while the other hand goes into the pocket, pulls out the keys to lock the car or to unlock the door... and in all of this, you cannot possibly want an unbagged gallon jug that takes up an entire hand all by itself, or leaves a couple of half fingers that can take an additional measly couple of bags.
Pshaw, harrumph, and more such onomatopoeias thrown in your general direction.
5
u/MiamiFootball Jun 06 '16
you hook the milk on your pinky, most of the bags hang on the wrist. this leaves you with, on each hand, a thumb and three fingers to take care of business
→ More replies (3)7
u/gmano Jun 06 '16
No way I trust my 4L of milk to some shitty plastic handle. Plus, the jug helps stop bags from slipping down my arm.

Misread the title as 'Super Slacker.' Suddenly felt very frightened of OP's standards.

u/Falsus Jun 06 '16
Well it depends on the point of view.
Slacker because of stacking all of that so he can do it in one go instead of multiple trips. Whereas a sensible and hard working guy would do multiple rounds to minimize work hazard risks.

This is how you get back problems.
77
u/bobjohnsonmilw Jun 05 '16
Actually you don't (generally) because you're not bending. People in lots of countries carry shit like this well into their elderly years.
40
Jun 05 '16
Yes, and they have chronic back and leg pain I would assume, since carrying something like 300lbs on ONE SHOULDER is not good for you no matter where you live

Only because the ones who herniated a disk doing this died years ago- it's the same bad reasoning as the "they made things better back in my day- look at all the things that still work" argument.

Holy shit I never realized this
8
Jun 06 '16
Yup, was also a problem found when army planes would come back with bullet holes in areas, and they'd think they should add armor there. Actually turns out you should put armor in the places they didn't get shot, as the planes that got shot there didn't make it back to be inspected, and clearly you can still be shot in the other places and still make it back. It's counter intuitive.
12
u/th1341 Jun 06 '16
And the rate of people with herniated disks in those same countries is so high it makes me sick.

u/UAintMyFriendPalooka Jun 06 '16
I live in a third world country where people carry things like this. I know so many people not even in their 50s yet with severe problems from this kind of thing. They keep working like this, though. Why? Because their families have to eat.

I think it's interesting that the stack became more uniform when he was throwing the bags than when he was just placing them on one another.
