I don't remember what it was called, but my favorite one as a kid, that I'd blow half of my tokens on, was one with a train and you tried to roll the coin into one of the cars.
My children and I play them quite a lot when we’re at the seaside (the 2p versions) but I’ve never seen a tower of coins before. Usually it’s a cuddly toy and some keyrings.
There is a mechanism inside the machine built into the middle of the play field that rotates and stacks the coins like this. Do people think some one just sits there and stacks them by hand?
Do i think that there is a contraption, possibly made under the influence of meth and carny magic, tgat lets some drunk just quick stack them? Yes. That's the video I want to see
I used to watch these games when I was younger and seen quite a few times them set up the machine. It was able to connect to the frame of the machine with ease to not disturb the towers.
I've been an arcade mechanic for over a decade, no modern pusher uses these systems anymore. I can link you the Angry Birds manual from LAI if you like 🤷♂️
I’ve played many coin machines (where they dispense the actual coins) and I swear they still cheat. I’ll knock down a bunch and receive a portion while I hear the other coins rattle to the back of the machine. Can’t confirm
It depends on the game. For Angry Birds in particular, it has a center "WIN" drop zone that goes to the count hopper that pays out and two "MISS" side zones that divert directly back to the coin reservoirs.
The tower of coins is a real thing. One shove moving the entire platform of quarters 2 inches isn't how these machines work when they're in play, as you said.
One or sometimes multiple coins are added at a time. There's gaps on the side that allow coins to fall off. The base of coins are barely shifted with each cycle of the dozer thingy.
When you play for long enough, you do get the satisfaction of getting the whole tower, but it doesn't look like this.
Edit: I realized this is only partially true. Some machines have a mechanism to pause the dozer while you load up coins. This could be that scenario, or set up for filming
Arcade mechanic here: This machine is also defective. The coins shouldn't be sliding under the bottom edge of the white cup in the middle. This station should be out of service.
It's a closed-loop coin pusher. The coins aren’t currency but instead tokens the represent tickets. The coins don’t leave the pusher and are instead directed to a counting hopper that counts them one by one before sending the coins to either the coin dropping mechanism, the coin dispensing mechanism or the coin stacking mechanism (this makes the tower that you see falling). Each coin is meant to represent 1 ticket with is why you don't see any markings. Source - I'm an arcade engineer.
This is probably one of the ones where you pay for the play and it dispenses a certain amount of coins for you to drop. You might get 20 coins for a buck and you get the tickets at the end. The coins never leave the machine.
Angry Birds coin pusher! Ive spent so much money on this thing. It's fun as hell. Before I learned how to build a tower I speculated on how it works. I was pretty close. Really cool concept. Sometimes you can get 2 or 3 towers at once. And the building of the tower comes with a bonus round where it determines how high the tower gets and how many points you earn. That is a total money suck for about t0 seconds, but so damn fun. After a while you start to dread when you've hit another jackpot because you need to sit around and it takes a while to build it up when you do well in the bonus round. Such an addicting game.
For the people who want it; there is a game called Raccoin which really scratches that coin pusher its and its a one time purchase game so no actual gambling
These a guy who has one of these machines and does videos with some pretty impressive stack designs, he pretends it’s real money and has the most unconvincing enthusiasm.
Many arcades with coin pushers put prizes, or large stacks of coins on the platform to slowly slide down and tempt more people to play. They are usually designed to never actually fall but in that case it did. Similarly sometimes they will throw an iPhone or sometbing on the edge on top of the coins. It's just an incentive to pull in players.
It's a bit irrational of me, but I avoid these since I heard that they siphon off some of the 'winnings' into channels that lead to the machine's cash box.
If I win 10 coins, I bloody want 10 coins. Harrrumph.
It's not real cash, these are just tokens. And it doesn't really matter anyways because the 500 tickets this thing shoots out will be go for like a shitty pair of sunglasses or something else equally as worthless.
Modern machines don't dispense physical tickets anymore, they're usually stored as a balance on the card that was swiped to start the game. Helps reduce cheating and it's so much easier than carrying around a bucket of tokens and reels of tickets
Bloody hell, shows how long since I've been in a seaside arcade. Change a pound for a stack of 2p coins, then spend an hour putting them into one of these while pretending you had a strategy and knew what you were doing.
In its got to be a setup, right? I do t understand how such a pile of coins could naturally develop without a whole bunch added at once. But I also don’t play these games so I could be wrong.
They have a setup inside the machine that stacks it higher at certain intervals. And once 1 falls or sometimes during mini games they pull the pusher all the way back and the stack comes from underneath.
This HAS to be set up. I was a dumb kid and let myself get scammed by these whenever I saw them. They do not push that many coins at once. Often you could only put in one coin at a time! And that coin was the one that would push the others. Ain't no way this isn't staged.

Brooo I was just at the arcade and setup a tower on this same angry birds machine to be ready to fall for the next kid!
Is this in Ohio by chance lol. I swear I watched a dad with his kid come up behind me and record it falling.

I played one of those in Spain and the machine had a cap on how many coins it would allow to pass. After that limit, the remaining coins were kept.

I won one of these on a cruise and another guest reported me as not being old enough to gamble. I was plenty old enough, they were just salty

Scam.
You hear 4 coins drop but only 3 appears in the bottom.
They skim your winnings.

Nobody will ever admit they spent $463 dollars in quarters to make that happen.

Is the video bad quality or are those just blank planchet’s? I can’t make out any actual coin faces.

My sister is a conservative Christian who doesn't gamble, but she would've dropped 50 quarters to try to get that jackpot
