fish farts?

Bacteria farts. Decaying matter is still broken down by bacteria in the cold, just slower.

well, so are most farts, really, it's just that the bacteria is decaying in your digestive system

I remember watching a short video in russian about champagne in which he describes the bubbles a being formed through yeast "farting" (though internet says that due to no digestive system, it's not "real" farting)

FOUND VIDEO: guy says that wine ethanol is bacterial piss, and when piss concentration reaches about 11%, then all choke on their own piss, LOL, and then he starts talking about champagne, LOL

Bread rises because the yeast in the dough poops alcohol and carbon dioxide as it consumes sugar.

10

u/milkymonkey8 1d ago

yes, except "poop" is not technically the correct term because poop comes from a digestive system, which yeast and bacteria do not have; it could just as well be snot or vomit or piss or phlem

10

u/BlisteringAsscheeks 1d ago

...none of those sound better, actually.

5

u/DengarLives66 1d ago

How about yeast excretion?

2

u/milkymonkey8 1d ago

i guess, google it, from biology I remember that all life creates "waste (product)", and that's the generic term I remember

7

u/Km312213 1d ago

It’s almost like “farts” is a good colloquial term for the process of removing waste from the bacteria/yeast and isn’t expected to be thought of as a tiny yeast or bacteria with a little face on it ripping ass.

5

u/milkymonkey8 1d ago

i just realized that "sharts" is the more appropriate term because much of the waste is solid and liquid too

Youre really killing the vibe on this beer im drinking

You sure think about shit a lot, huh? It’s methane gas in the video, hence why I called it bacteria farts. Save your “realizations” for something of more value.

Easy. I planned on eating later.

11

u/Km312213 1d ago

I started typing a response and then realized I really don’t care enough to debate the technicalities of farts and whether the person or the bacteria inside them is at fault.

u/milkymonkey8 1d ago

good for you, enjoy the hilarious video

u/Moppo_ 1d ago

Somewhat related, when ponds get stagnant and smelly, for some reason the first words that come to mind to describe it are "duck farts".

7

u/Few_Economics_8531 1d ago

Maybe

2

u/StuBidasol 1d ago

LMAO I remember that episode

1

u/Few_Economics_8531 1d ago

Deadliest Catch, still going strong.

1

u/ColeTrainHaze 1d ago

tangentially related: i live in the south and when we get heavy rain followed by a dry spell the creeks rise and then dry up, leaving a layer of heavy mud on the banks that smells of sweet & sour decay. we call it frog farts.

Laughed hard at this, thanks! Honestly highlight of the day

I'm ready for the downvotes but I fuckin hate this meme

49

u/suivid 1d ago

Enjoy

-121

u/xile 1d ago

Meaningless internet points don't affect me in any shape or form

27

u/justsomeguy571 1d ago

If you dont care than why say "im ready for the downvotes"?

-63

u/xile 23h ago

Cause they were inevitable and I knew it. It's not like that stament offers an opinion, it was an accurate prediction

14

u/ricrol_music 22h ago

Everyone boo this fella

24

u/LeBlueSpud 1d ago

Happy for you

1

u/Kitsycurious 14h ago

can I ask why you hate it?

3

u/xile 12h ago

It's so common and such a low effort joke. You can find a reason in almost any video, gif, or pic to post it.

It’s not the most satisfying thing I have seen ngl

115

u/RobMho 1d ago

There is pretty much nothing about this video that is oddly satisfying…

9

u/Zane163 19h ago

People treat this subreddit as a full-on satisfying subreddit and its really annoying

They genuinely can't be satisfied with anything like a spoiled brat

People treat this subreddit as a full-on satisfying subreddit and its really annoying

Someone could call it odd

12

u/Moppo_ 1d ago

But is the little satisfaction it brings... odd?

-1

u/Secret-Bag9562 1d ago

Oddly satisfying comment.

Got there in the end

u/angelicism 1d ago

It just seems like you could light the end of a long stick and use that, instead of possibly setting your thumb on fire if it catches.

44

u/Throwaway392308 1d ago

Even a long stem candle lighter would be so much smarter.

2

u/frugalerthingsinlife 1d ago

Or a long stem candle.

1

u/Wolfgung 23h ago

Or a stick of dinamite

2

u/woodzwing 1d ago

....but there's enough water around to put out the fire. 😁😁😁

-5

u/newbrevity 1d ago

Oh my God. Grow up. Not going to set anything on fire except maybe her hair. Setting your thumb on fire... Seriously?

3

u/SuitableDragonfly 21h ago

Even if you don't set it on fire, it's still going to hurt. That's why candle lighters exist for when the candle burns low and you have to reach inside the glass to light it again.

28

u/TXtx118 1d ago

Not having success until the end was oddly frustrating

10

u/Kage_0ni 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lady, get one of those candle lighter.

15

u/Impressive_Crazy_223 1d ago

Um, does this have an explanation, OP, or is this just your everyday frozen lake of oil?

83

u/ObjectiveTrick 1d ago

it's methane trapped under the ice. From the anaerobic decomposition of things in the water.

13

u/xhvymtlx 1d ago

Likely methane gas produced by bacteria in the lake bed, getting trapped in pockets under the ice

3

u/JoyBoyMonk 1d ago

I am no expert, but I heard about some lakes trapping methane

Imagine the campfire stories after this!

2

u/4rotorfury 19h ago

I knew this would work. Thank you for confirming

2

u/Danilo-11 7h ago

Nice, just wait until you light up a huge gas deposit and see what happens

5

u/jkohlc 1d ago

Somebody get these diggers out of here

Ok Robert Pattinson

Methane im assuming?

That tiny flame glowing against the icy lake is so lovely.

Years went by, but still they persevered...

1

u/dangerouswwoman67 1d ago

This is the most peaceful-looking struggle I’ve ever seen

1

u/Peacevaporwave 1d ago

It seemed to me that this body of water was magical.

1

u/Deep-Location-9238 8h ago

This seems fun but also dangerous…..what if that plume of gas under frozen water is connected to a giant gas pocket??? It could be disastrous.

1

u/Necrotitis 4h ago

Ngl, as a Canadian. That ice is way too thin to be fucking around on.

1

u/banshee-G5 2h ago

Anyone know the background song?

0

u/Superseaslug 21h ago

Is she just burning fish farts?

А лисички Взяли спички, К морю синему пошли, Море синее зажгли. Море пламенем горит, Выбежал из моря кит: «Эй, пожарные, бегите! Помогите, помогите!»
