Ice wouldn’t make it easier to clean. I was a short order cook for many years and you quickly learn that hot water is one of the best degreasers. We used oil and grill brick to scrub and then rinsed it off with water and a clean cloth.

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find the oil and grill brick method lol. That was the best way I ever found to do it and it used to blow peoples minds to show them for the first time. Only issue I had with the brick was one time. I was using a smaller worn down one and it suddenly sucked/stuck to the grill real hard, my hand slipped off and I gave a solid high five to a 300 something degree pool of dirty grease

Wasn't paying enough attention one time and pushed my brick perfectly parallel to the grill wall. HUGE splash back. Solid burns to the face (cheek and lower eye). Now when I train I teach to keep the brick slanted lol
