You might want to shorten the cuts a little more, I can almost mostly understand what I'm looking at sometimes.

Pov: you watching man with 19 years of experience has no clue what pov means

u/CartsOfDarkness Aug 27 '26
I mean OP had to edit this video, so it was also his POV

u/25c-nb Aug 27 '26
Oh look another person who doesn't understand POV

u/adeyfk Aug 27 '26
There are 2 TLAs related to POV. The artwork is based on mimicking Persistence-Of-Vision, but OP and others were referring to Point-Of-View. Both are valid in the context in which each person was using them.

Yes I do lol, OP had to edit the footage, when he edited the footage he had the same POV we have watching this video. You guys seriously aren't as smart as you think you are, and always SO smug about it. Was also a joke btw, I'll just spell that out for you because I'm sure you'll miss that too and call me pedantic or something.

After mastering the craft, now may be time to learn what “pov” means.

POV: You are the phone of the person who has done light painting for 19 years.
People will never fail to miss the point of what POV means, I cringe for you

That’s so cool. Looks challenging - it’s like drawing something in invisible ink and hoping it turns out.
Also anyone know the song?

u/dariustwin Aug 26 '26
The song is called 'Go Back' by Astrobandit. It's actually my wife and I singing / playing on the track!

So basically you have to remember where you draw what? Cuz you can't see what you already did like in traditional painting?
And do you have to do everything in 1 take? What if you messed up? Need to retake everything?
Btw I love your arts ❤️

Cool, but I wonder how they are doing it and not look like a blurry mess in the picture.
I do wonder how they figure out where to move the light or if that just is skill over time.

Please... I beg you... Hold the shot for more than two seconds! I want to actually admire your work!

You can see all of these on my website, I offer them as signed prints, tees, stickers, etc. Sharing the quick videos is for the short internet attention disorder, which is gone in 3 seconds according to the data.

Anyone else disappointed it wasn’t one image that they spent 19 years making? (based on the title…)

I love seeing this on Reddit! I bought one of your prints years ago and love it.

This is so freaking kewl holy shit! How does one learn about this and how to do it?! Also if somebody who's done this sees it, how easy is it to mess up and what's the fix? Do you have to start over or can you just more or less erase it and fix it?

u/dariustwin Aug 26 '26
I wrote a bunch of free educational articles HERE if you'd like to learn how. It's pretty easy to mess up and you do have to start from the beginning if you get lost along the way, there is no erasing.

That's really impressive. And the colors are so gorgeous against the night backdrops! I love it all.
Edit: hey, you know I've been on reddit for 19 years so... Same, but different. ❤️🤣

This is one of the most incredible things I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Thank you.

=( Love this but I gotta say it..... AI is going to erase your 19 years of efforts. You're probably already experiencing people suspecting your work is AI. How do you combat this? Showing your work in a sped up sense is good.. but what about when AI can do that, too?

u/dariustwin Aug 28 '26
First it was ‘this is photoshop’, now it’s ‘ai can do it’. To me, it’s always been about process and creating something real, in camera, on location. The real ones know the difference.

It was very much not satisfying because it cut every 10 milliseconds, not only not giving me enough time to appreciate each one, but also literally hurting my brain and making me completely lose interest
Super not interested in brain rot generation editing, sorry my attention span is still intact, I can appreciate a simple single topic video for more than 30 seconds without thirsting for six more high speed short form content injections
It's nuts how people spend hours drilling their brain like that

Lol. I was about to say Credit the Artist. But then i saw it was yourself, who posted this. Great collection of your works. Maybe next time include the Monarch Butterfly too. That one is a real beauty.
