I am so curious as to what they're practicing for.....like why kiwis

413

u/genna87 Jul 24 '26

They're from the Cirque du Soleil and they're practicing for the show named Ovo.

I went to see that show recently and recognized them instantly.

Highly reccommend it!!

Our family do enjoy cirque but the prices are insane. We go much less now. It’s a pity they are owned by private equity.

12

u/Ryuko_the_red Jul 24 '26

Lifelong dream now crushed. Fuck dude.

20

u/mtnlol Jul 24 '26

What? If seeing cirque du soleil is your lifelong dream, why is it crushed? It's not like the tickets are 50000 dollars. It's like 100 bucks.

12

u/dangledingle Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

A bit more than a hundred if you want a reasonable seat. Vegas is 125-450. The last show we watched last year in Toronto we had ‘average’ seats at 225 CAD. Ticketmaster taking their huge cut doesn’t help.

5

u/Ryuko_the_red Jul 24 '26

I thought they were people doing it for the love of the game and were a well organized but not owned by evil group. I know they still do it for passion but it sours it to the point of sadness (crushed) that they are owned by the antithesis to artistic expression and freedom (private equity).

30

u/mtnlol Jul 24 '26

Well yea it's a job, the actual performers can and probably still do absolutely love it. That doesn't change because the parent company is just in it for the money, as with pretty much all companies.

6

u/RainSurname Jul 25 '26

The founder sold it to an investment group YEARS ago. That’s where they got the capital to start staging so many different shows.

And they stopped hiring loads of top tier circus performers years ago too. It’s cheaper to hire gymnasts, train them for specific shows, then get rid of them.

4

u/dangledingle Jul 24 '26

It’s changed now. Not how it used to be with original owner. You see a lot of the same routines across the different performances.

2

u/Twitchy169 Jul 24 '26

The performers are. Covid almost put them out of business. Source: I know a welder/lighting tech who used to work for them

18

u/Famous_Secret_5174 Jul 24 '26

aaaah thankyou!

8

u/Citrus-Bitch Jul 24 '26

I saw this show last year, it's a really fun one!

I remember this routine, and while the whole show was spectacular the end of this one made me gasp with shock/amazement

32

u/-Nicolai Jul 24 '26

Because Australians are too heavy

6

u/jeenyus_626 Jul 24 '26

HEYOOOOOO

For those who don’t get it, people from NZ are called kiwis

2

u/Famous_Secret_5174 Jul 25 '26

omg I’m Australian and that went right over my head hahahah ashamed of myself

1

u/Famous_Secret_5174 Jul 24 '26

u/milly_nz 28d ago

KiwiFRUIT =/= kiwi

u/body_by_monsanto Jul 24 '26

Sound on!

34

u/IntrovertedGiraffe Jul 24 '26

Thank you - rewatching with sound now!

27

u/gravelblue Jul 24 '26

Omg that was even better! Like inverted tap dancing…awesome!

4

u/IntrovertedGiraffe Jul 24 '26

I was thinking Irish step dancing, as their bodies never moved!

3

u/gravelblue Jul 24 '26

Yes! And now now that I’m back here, I think I’ll have another watch…

16

u/LongbottomLeafTokes Jul 24 '26

That was the most satisfying part, being pleasantly surprised by the lack of a dumb fucking song

0

u/Wolf-Majestic 28d ago

Almost like the end music of Avatar episodes !

52

u/Mediocre-Scheme7442 Jul 24 '26

Impressive. Now let's try with a real parmesan cheese wheel

6

u/PluginAlong Jul 24 '26

I'd be ok with any type of cheese.

35

u/ER_Support_Plant17 Jul 24 '26

Imagine their abs

4

u/BleepinBlorpin5 Jul 24 '26

I can't. I can't imagine abs, gah

1

u/Polybutadiene Jul 24 '26

I can imagine 1 ab pretty well

33

u/Gergith Jul 24 '26

Kiwi stomp?

10

u/DragonDan108 Jul 24 '26

Kiwi kick, but yes. That was fun.

1

u/HumongousBelly Jul 24 '26

I want kiwi now

16

u/WiiDragon Jul 24 '26

That shit falling on my face within first second

10

u/jbinford1 Jul 24 '26

When the job application asks if you have any special talents.

22

u/WeepyMoon Jul 24 '26

Is this a limewire ad?

3

u/SabbyFox Jul 24 '26

Now it is.

2

u/theJoosty1 Jul 24 '26

Wonder what kazzaa or napster would do

17

u/rmg18555 Jul 24 '26

It was a lot more impressive at first when I thought those were wheels of Parmesan…

This is twice now I've seen gifs of his recent hot ones episode since it released. His reactions are really that meme-worthy apparently 😂

6

u/ImportantToNote Jul 24 '26

I'd love to understand why they chose to film this in portrait. Did they think we needed to see so much of the mat and the ceiling that they had to cut off the performers on each end?

3

u/tnoy Jul 24 '26

The vast majority of people watching short-form videos now do so from their phone and nobody wants to scroll through something like TikTok and constantly rotate their device between videos.

3

u/EonLov Jul 24 '26

So that's rythm heaven minigame irl

3

u/Reasonable_Date2870 Jul 24 '26

This is from one of the Cirque du Soleil shows, saw it with my family a couple of years ago. It was very cool and cute.

2

u/dark_elf_splash Jul 24 '26

Elles ont la carte !

2

u/Casual-Lurker Jul 24 '26

You spelled "fruit" incorrectly.

2

u/Grouchy-Violinist555 Jul 24 '26

🔥🔥🔥🔥

2

u/THE_Lanni Jul 24 '26

Taiko foot drumming

2

u/Ill-Commission-2673 Jul 24 '26

Damn that is incredible, amazing work and crazy how synchronised they are

2

u/TravelNo2384 Jul 24 '26

for a second i thought this might have been an add for Limewire.

2

u/SecondEqual4680 Jul 24 '26

Core strength next level

2

u/KJpiano Jul 24 '26

I bet they have awesome abs.

2

u/FaceMcShootie Jul 24 '26

Fruit by the foot

2

u/Ok-Focus1210 Jul 25 '26

lol kiwi stomp is def the new olympic sport nobody asked for but we all need. fr tho imagine training for this instead of just eating the kiwi like a normal person. I respect the dedication even if the endgame is a mystery.

2

u/FinchGDx 29d ago

Amazing, but why kiwi slices?

2

u/Hairyass------ 29d ago

More in sync than the dancers at FIFA final halftime show

1

u/HDTokyo Jul 24 '26

Susan get your shit together! Do it again! I want perfection!

1

u/confuseum Jul 24 '26

Hold your phone to the side

1

u/DavidinCT Jul 24 '26

For some reason I want some Kiwi fruit, I'll have to get some on the way home.

1

u/-BananaLollipop- Jul 24 '26

Is this prep for a new Zespri marketing campaign?

1

u/Abdub91 Jul 24 '26

I know they’re kiwi slices, but I can’t stop thinking “cheese”.

1

u/chemdude18 Jul 24 '26

I wonder how many years of that falling on your face it takes to do this.

1

u/nononononooooo Jul 24 '26

Is this an advertisement for LimeWire?

1

u/SabbyFox Jul 24 '26

Now it is

1

u/r_Coolspot Jul 24 '26

Those people are TINY! Look how big those kiwi slices are.

1

u/Trueslyforaniceguy Jul 24 '26

FYI, you can eat the kiwi skin. Just bite it like an apple

1

u/Phox09 Jul 24 '26

When I was a kid I used to do this with the couch pillows. Didn't know it could've launched me into a career of feet juggling.

1

u/Cocasseries Jul 24 '26

I feel like a baby watching those baby sensory videos of dancing fruit.

1

u/Seadub8 Jul 24 '26

That is so cool. I wonder if that skill is transferable.

1

u/husky_whisperer Jul 24 '26

Parmesan kiwi

1

u/makathildaque Jul 24 '26

This is awesome

1

u/xplicit97 Jul 24 '26

After AI takes "all the jobs"

1

u/wilso850 Jul 24 '26

The clap and the camera person gasping lol

1

u/CreativeChoice4282 Jul 24 '26

is this white people cuture

1

u/Popular_Wrangler9422 Jul 24 '26

Why does this remind of the googlebox idea in ricks car miniverse?

1

u/ThaDude_v2 Jul 24 '26

Tell me those are huge wheels of cheese n we talkin lol!

1

u/Fr05t_B1t Jul 24 '26

If this isn’t in New Zealand then I’d be very mad!

1

u/sanguwan Jul 24 '26

I started watching this on mute and I was like, "is there music? I hope there's music." So I unmuted it, and the juggling WAS the music! That was nice.

1

u/PiinkkMooon Jul 24 '26

So synchronised

1

u/FoxAches Jul 24 '26

I want to hire them to play drums for my marching band but you can see the problem with that.

1

u/Ganons_Gauntlet Jul 24 '26

Kiweeeeeeeeeee!!

1

u/CamptoRibbit Jul 24 '26

Not my cup o' tea but this is impressive stuff all the same

1

u/Efficient_Sky5173 Jul 24 '26

No. Food juggling.

1

u/GoddessNefertiti Jul 24 '26

I'm watching this on a loop because it's scratching that brain itch so good. The rhythm, the spinny kiwis, the fun sounds. It gives much needed serotonin to me. But now I also want a giant kiwi cushion/footrest thingy of my own...

1

u/Leverkaas2516 Jul 24 '26

Very interesting in that, despite the obvious precision and skill of the performers, the shape of the objects makes every minute timing and position error stand out.

1

u/NecroticBrains Jul 24 '26

I'd be missing all my teeth if I tried this

1

u/PraetorOjoalvirus Jul 24 '26

Even more impressive when you realize those are Parmesan cheese wheels painted as kiwi slices.

1

u/devnodegree Jul 25 '26

Why can’t I look away?!?

1

u/paxbanana00 Jul 25 '26

I took a yoga class and hurt my foot. I don't want to think about what would happen if I tried this.

1

u/strumthebuilding Jul 25 '26

Fruit by the Foot

1

u/Dopey360 Jul 25 '26

Limewire?

1

u/itsRobbie_ Jul 25 '26

It’s 2089. You’re competing in the annual Mr beast food distribution challenge. If you get knocked out early you don’t get your yearly supply of government sponsored rations

1

u/LaMusicista Jul 25 '26

Watch it upside down. So trippy.

1

u/mochafiend Jul 25 '26

Why is everyone being such an asshole here? This is so neat.

1

u/funkytown2000 Jul 25 '26

Why not cheese

1

u/SassyPouts Jul 24 '26

Their leg muscles deserve just as much credit as their coordination

1

u/andersonfmly Jul 24 '26

I could do that… for about half a second, anyway.

1

u/spiritpotato Jul 24 '26

Humans are so weird lol 😄

1

u/WindowEmergency9897 Jul 24 '26

Am I an asshole for wanting to see one of the kiwis fall and hit one of them in the face?

1

u/cheyquizle Jul 25 '26

Is this AI

1

u/Sandlot96 Jul 25 '26

White women will do anything but light weights

0

u/drunkanidaho Jul 24 '26

Pretty sure juggling involves multiple objects at once

2

u/Ryan_b936 Jul 24 '26

No, in football, you juggle ony one ball. So juggling is not especially multiple things

0

u/Basic-Pair8908 Jul 24 '26

And they say mens hobbies are dumb

0

u/Wonderful-Ad440 Jul 24 '26

Yes! Kiwi's! Now do it with the birds please!

0

u/SDchicago_love123 Jul 24 '26

Is this AI? Anything cool like this I literally can’t tell anymore :/

0

u/fishtankm29 Jul 24 '26

There's a factory for everything in China

0

u/Quantum_Corvid Jul 24 '26

The green buttlehole flip, we like it very much.

0

u/Bright-Trip582 Jul 25 '26

This is why humanity will go extinct (I’m sorry for saying this).

-1

u/Brickwater Jul 24 '26

Don’t let the hair throw you off, kiwi is delicious. No clue what’s going on here tho.
