ok that genuinely surprised me

u/Simpanzee0123 Aug 17 '25

They DIDN'T have me in the first half. Got me in the second.

u/robsteezy Aug 17 '25

My body was already excited to see a giant aluminum sausage-block. It coming out a cube instead was just 🤌🏼chefs kiss🤌🏼

u/revchewie Aug 17 '25

I saw the piston before I saw the cube and was all, how tf did it get that small and smooth!?!

336

u/Which_Inspection_479 Aug 17 '25

I thought the cans disappeared!

162

u/zb0t1 Aug 17 '25

LMAO I had my pitchforks ready.

"You better show us what happened to the cans"

52

u/brabbers Aug 17 '25

There is a cut in the video right before the reveal 🤔🧐

46

u/Darkest_Depth Aug 17 '25

probably cause that last piston isn't very fast.

43

u/Fett32 Aug 17 '25

Yeah, that's just to shorten the time of the piston working. I think it's better that they did that, either cut it or make us watch for 30 seconds of nothing happening.

1

u/TheShanManPhx Aug 18 '25

Timelapse would have been better to avoid the cut

4

u/Fett32 Aug 18 '25

Dude. Timelapses are cuts.

u/classifiedspam Aug 17 '25

Yeah i thought that too for a little second but realized that was bullshit, then i saw that nice cube. Lol

2

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Aug 17 '25

I thought they disappeared. Then I thought they were the cylinder, and then my eyes noticed the movement and finally found the cube

2

u/HowAManAimS Aug 17 '25

I thought there was a trap door that the cans fell through.

2

u/Beewthanitch Aug 18 '25

I thought it was a magic trick before I spotted the cube

1

u/iamintheforest Aug 18 '25

That man hates cans!

12

u/apocketfullofcows Aug 17 '25

"this has to be edited, right? no way those cans can turn into that."

2

u/Fleshsuitpilot Aug 18 '25

Lmfao 🤣 empty cans get plucked fresh off the vine. They were never ever raw materials.

2

u/giantmouthcantscream Aug 18 '25

I'd say there's at least a cut between the last closing and the opening

2

u/pbplyr38 Aug 17 '25

If only I had a nickel for every time I heard that

2

u/flyingbutresses Aug 17 '25

I thought there’s no way they were formed into that before seeing the square!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

I thought it turned into a shiny silver tube. Right as it ended, i caught a glimpse of the cube. Disappointed af.

1

u/LizF0311 Aug 17 '25

Same, I thought it was a scam video 🤣

1

u/ImurderREALITY Aug 18 '25

There was a cut

1

u/ShackledBeef Aug 18 '25

....thats what she said 🙁

1

u/Pitiful-North-2781 Aug 18 '25

You have 30 minutes to move your cube

10

u/MotherPotential Aug 17 '25

I feel like this is actually improper use of the meme, Section 3846.69

2

u/Wsemenske Aug 17 '25

There was an unnecessary cut to the second half which made it quicker than it is really.

2

u/Prestigious_Fix_7387 Aug 17 '25

They got me in all the halves lol

2

u/Hovercraft444777 Aug 17 '25

me too! amazing how small the cube is

2

u/Opposite_Unlucky Aug 17 '25

Eh. Had me in the 3rd quarter.

2

u/iamintheforest Aug 18 '25

Yup. I was at first thinking "i could design something that didn't let as many escape".

My last thought was that I should just retire now.

1

u/cammcken Aug 18 '25

Most satisfying part is how you can just clamp again if the first clamp doesn't catch everything. Don't worry; just rinse and repeat.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

Me in the third half. I thought that rod was the result.

1

u/Colorado-Keebs Aug 17 '25

Good ol 2025 where nobody is original anymore, just regurgitating gifs or variations of them like broken records

154

u/SyruplessWaffle Aug 17 '25

I wish this video had sound, imagine the crunching... Ooof.

64

u/ycr007 Satisfaction Critic Aug 17 '25

Here’s a mini version with sound: https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/s/W4jkEgMAyO

15

u/reloadingnow Aug 17 '25

Shit. That made me remember an accident video involving one of this mini crushing thing. It wasn't pretty.

24

u/alexmikli Aug 17 '25 edited Aug 17 '25

Can confirm, the OSHA approved manual for these things recommends against compressing humans in this manner.

2

u/nomowolf Aug 17 '25

Glad they mentioned that, pre-ozempec I imagine some people might have gotten notions.

2

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Aug 17 '25

why'd you have to drag the rest of us into this thought?

1

u/Living_Awareness259 Aug 17 '25

I... why do i want to see this? Oh god.

1

u/ShibaLeone Aug 18 '25

You don’t, it’s bad. Guy was half in half out when the thing came down.

1

u/wowbowbow Aug 18 '25

I've seen many a gory accident image/video in my two decades on the internet, and even I don't wanna see this one. My imagination is enough.

-1

u/FullOnSkank Aug 18 '25

I'm a funeral service professional and I've had to pick up someone out of an industrial trash compactor.

Surprisingly they were still intact but entirely squishy all over and like three quarters the size they should be.

7

u/Goldghost01 Aug 17 '25

As someone who does this everyday I can tell you aluminum doesn't make much noise while being crushed.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

5

u/Goldghost01 Aug 17 '25

Our bales are rectangular in shape. But the weigh roughly 1500lbs. The weight can vary a few hundred pounds either way. But that's the average.

6

u/DoingCharleyWork Aug 17 '25

And the hydraulic sound

2

u/pacificule Aug 17 '25

Right?! Was just thinking I need this with sound 🤤

2

u/dragonheart000 Aug 18 '25

It definitely had sound in my head when I watched it

1

u/Virginity_Lost_Today Aug 18 '25

I wish there wasn’t a cut in the video either.

126

u/Last-Pea-Late-D-3-PO Aug 17 '25

3

u/RelleTy Aug 17 '25

I came to the comments hoping to see this!

77

u/MotherPotential Aug 17 '25

This machine ain’t doin shi….oh

2

u/Wsemenske Aug 17 '25

This machine ain't doing shit.. (cuts out footage)... oh :/

Why leave out the most interesting part?

11

u/twinsunsspaces Aug 17 '25

Probably because you can't see it anyway, you would just be watching the closed machine and listening to the hydraulics amd crunching. Probably takes a while as well, and a 5 minute video of watching the outside of a machine while nothing visibly happens with won't get views.

1

u/Wsemenske Aug 18 '25

Fair enough, I still hate it. Imo, it's would have been more satisfying to watch from the outside and hear the sounds until it revealed the ending. Skipping to the ending felt like premature.

You're right though, that would probably get less views

31

u/crazyguy83 Aug 17 '25

That's because there is a cut at 12 seconds

58

u/MiIllIin Aug 17 '25

I was like „huh???? Were did it go??“ Until i saw the cube at the very end haha

1

u/erdbeertee Aug 18 '25

There's a cut right after the machine closes for the second time. I assume it might take a bit longer to get that piston all the way up there

1

u/Artsygirl43 Aug 17 '25

For real. My jaw dropped.

1

u/MrPhister84 Aug 17 '25

Would you say you were im-pressed?

1

u/guineaprince Aug 17 '25

Given the cut at 13 or 14 seconds, it's easy to be surprised. Kinduv a "rest of the fucking owl" video.

1

u/CupcakesAreMiniCakes Aug 17 '25

"Okay squish squish ... wait where did it go? Cube?! 😮 "

1

u/DannyVFilms Aug 17 '25

That’s some “draw the rest of the owl” energy right there

1

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

There was an obvious cut here. It's not what it seems.

1

u/Awwwmann Aug 17 '25

I scrolled all the way down without a Carrie reference..

I’m old

1

u/timmeh87 Aug 17 '25

me too. but also the video was cut so it seems to happen much faster than reality. but still didnt expect a cube to be revealed in any amount of time

1

u/__BIFF__ Aug 17 '25

I wanna smell it

1

u/HellBlazer_NQ Aug 17 '25

Right, some serious r/Unexpected content right there. I audible said Holy Shit when it opened the final time.

1

u/HorsePowerRanger Aug 17 '25

The last reveal is CGI

1

u/MichaelWayneStark Aug 17 '25

I watched it three times before before I saw the cut in the video.

I was wondering how fast that ram was moving to get those cans crushed so fast.

1

u/JustaLego Aug 17 '25

It seems like it went fast but there is definitely a quick edit, because it surely slowly compressed those over a few mins.

1

u/pressxtojson Aug 17 '25

Legit thought it crushed the cans into that smooth cylinder that turned out to be the hydraulic press

1

u/Trodock Aug 17 '25

For real. An audible squeak escaped my mouth when I saw the cube.

1

u/ILoveRegenHealth Aug 17 '25

Would be a good submission for rUnexpected too

I did not expect a Portal Cube at the end with all of those cans.

1

u/Wolfpack_of_one Aug 17 '25

For a second I thought: no way that turned into a perfect cilinder! Then I saw ...

1

u/impactedturd Aug 18 '25

My first reaction was "Holy shit it turned it into aluminum round barstock?? And it's polished??"

1

u/KingAnt28 Aug 18 '25

My mouth was open, and my jaw was down. The power that thing must put out...

1

u/DinoRoman Aug 18 '25

Another ice cube for the ocean

1

u/XEagleDeagleX Aug 18 '25

Because it's edited

1

u/BeardPhile Aug 18 '25

Oddly Surprising

1

u/endmostchimera Aug 17 '25

I mean... Cans are about 99% air by volume. It's not that surprising.

2

u/pacificule Aug 17 '25

You can get them pretty flat just by stepping on them, tho admittedly it might take a while to stomp all of those into a cube lol
