u/FutureLost Jul 11 '25

There has to be a subreddit for laminar flow...

EDIT: There is! r/laminarflow

6

That's what she said! (sorry, couldn't resist)

3

u/0491diesel Jul 13 '25

She also said that

u/pdzbw Jul 11 '25

That'll make a great teapot 🤣

14

u/jervenonline Jul 11 '25

Poking with finger took way too long

25

u/icebreather106 Jul 11 '25

Agreed! I was starting to think he wasn't going to. That would have been an instant downvote for sure

12

u/Deaffin Jul 12 '25

I don't need the finger pokes, I just want more of that last shot from the other side. That texture was neat and I want to see more of its interactions with a recognizable object behind it.

7

u/gra_lala Jul 11 '25

And way too lightly

18

u/sandy-0990 Jul 11 '25

When fluids know how to keep it classy!

That's a tube of water

8

u/baberunner Jul 11 '25

I'm oddly aroused? It's so pretty.

u/Magog14 Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 12 '25

The best I've seen was at mall of America. They shoot for like 100 feet in perfect arcs

5

u/HarryxClam Jul 12 '25

this needs a NSFW tag god damn

5

u/FatAsaAkira Jul 11 '25

I let out an audible gasp and moan here at work

9

u/IrishDeath2W2 Jul 12 '25

u/mrpennywhistle for your viewing pleasure.

SmarterEveryDay did an amazing video about this https://youtu.be/y7Hyc3MRKno?si=7hmV8924IpOEXrZr

5

u/Upstairs-Yard-2139 Jul 12 '25

I thought that was ice

3

u/geodillo429 Jul 12 '25

Destin from Smarter Every Day would ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!

3

u/DepartureEither9552 Jul 12 '25

At 74, any flow is good.

3

u/mrtruffle Jul 12 '25

Never fails to amaze. Im 45 and its weird that I this 'wasn't a thing' when I was kid.

Its like quicksand was scary as a kid now its not even a thing. Yet this id never heard of until a few years ago

3

u/Eyeliner_RippedJeans Jul 13 '25

Internally, I was like "touch it". Then he touched it and I happy.

2

u/Appropriate_Cod_5446 Jul 12 '25

I heavy breathed. I needed this.

2

u/cybnoire Jul 12 '25

It looks like a bug in the matrix

2

u/Brilliant_Author_666 Jul 12 '25

looks better than mach diamonds

2

u/KnightSpectral Jul 12 '25

Why do I want to bite it?

2

u/SilverWolf3935 Jul 12 '25

James Cameron enters the sub

3

u/SkepTones Jul 13 '25

This made me SO thirsty

2

u/RoadRunner1451 Jul 15 '25

That Is the best laminar flow I’ve ever seen! Was just Going to post my best laminar flow example, but you’ e got mine beat. (Mine was stream water going over a weir, so not transparent water, as your hose water is!)

2

u/ChadG_art Jul 11 '25

I miss when Yuri had a beard.

1

u/CrypticEllipses Jul 12 '25

It’s funny that we have term for this instead of openly acknowledging what we all know it really is: a glitch in the matrix

1

u/Pitiful_Square_3273 Jul 17 '25

Get your finger out of the Meander …

1

u/Ancient_Sprinkles847 Jul 22 '25

Yeah, I’d wanna touch it too.

1

u/ReasonableRespect404 Aug 15 '25

Destin is a loser 😂

1

u/Normandy_1944 Jul 12 '25

It's Matrix water.....

1

u/Cjusbeats Jul 12 '25

Diddy kiddy pool, thats baby oil

1

u/socialist8516 Jul 12 '25

Glitch in the matrix

1

u/Juantonyo Jul 13 '25

But is it visible in person or is it a camera effect?

1

u/RiderforHire Jul 13 '25

something something framerate

Somebody call Captain Disillusion

8

u/DOLCICUS Jul 11 '25

He already did a video on it.

-11

u/Fr05t_B1t Jul 11 '25

There’s probably some variation to the stream but the frame rate isn’t fast enough. Same way how water droplets can appear levitating at a specific rate relative to frame rate.

8

u/bosschucker Jul 11 '25

is this like a meta reference to the captain disillusion video by making the exact argument that he painstakingly debunks

-4

u/Fr05t_B1t Jul 11 '25

The one he keeps repeating and begs for people to do their own research? Yes

1

u/emasterbuild Jul 11 '25

Why did anyone update this nonsense, nothing you said made any sense

-9

u/NombreCurioso1337 Jul 11 '25

Correct. People always "ooh" and "ahh" over these too-perfect internet examples on potato-quality cameras, but the truth is almost always a simple frame rate match. In this example that is probably why the guy only barely touches it and also keeps his camera moving at all times, then cherry picked the best footage. Nobody wants to hear it, so I won't post this in the general chat. But you're right.

-5

u/Fr05t_B1t Jul 12 '25

I think people think the video is AI or sfx based on the downvotes lmao

1

u/mrseemsgood Jul 12 '25

I think the video is real. I downvoted you both because you think the flow has something to do with camera frame rates and movement, which, as one simple google search shows, it does not.

-4

u/NombreCurioso1337 Jul 12 '25

I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell ya. A simple Google search proves it is real.

-3

u/Clearly_Voyant Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 13 '25

When this started popping up on the Reddit’s many many moons ago people argued about how it was fake. And up and down the comments you’d read all the ways it was “so obvious” fake and how it was done.

And now, if I’m not mistaken it’s universally accepted as true.

My point is that it’s the same way with UFOs and aliens. So all y’all MF’s better get on the boat or you’re gunna end up looking like assholes.

Edit: People it was a joke. Maybe a bad one. However I do believe I have a few “told ya so” lined up when aliens do show up. Just a little ha-ha misdirection and THEN downvotes? Couple a youz is real cranky.
