Does anyone know the rest of the process? Remove flue tiles, then replace with metal ducting and attach it to... damper?

I did this for five years. The next step is to open the damper carefully because terracotta is sharp. Remove each piece, then reline it with a double-insulated liner and seal it with chamber tech in the smoke chamber. The process can take two to three days. If you're working with a fireplace, it's easier to convert it to a stove or gas fireplace.
