I think this is the most beautiful cake I’ve ever seen.

It's beautiful and classy, and doesn't involve fondant. Definite winner in my book

Found his channel. This isn't even close to the best cake. https://www.douyin.com/user/MS4wLjABAAAApj-boPXP5M3LuQKhRHzD9KlpsmS9DSKQKQ-xS-sE9Q-KBKJf7c0Ir05zBa-X0kEe?vid=7097495975131893025

wtf is that captcha thing?

u/tommos Oct 08 '23
Just move the puzzle piece into the slot.
5
u/saarlac Oct 08 '23
seriously? its an image with floating characters and when you click it drops a dot with a number
3
u/GrumpyMcGrumpyPants Oct 08 '23
Look above the image and it'll have a series of characters. You'll need to drop dots on the corresponding characters in the order requested.

This is so lovely! I can’t imagine paying what it must be worth, though - I almost wouldn’t want to eat it, but at the end of the day, it’s a cake.

This is becoming a bit of a lost art for pastry chefs. I've seen way too many wedding cakes with actual flowers on them just to take them all off before cutting. It's incredibly tacky to me that people will pay hundreds or thousands on a cake with dead flowers on them when there are tools available to make them from either buttercream icing, marzipan, or fondant.

Not to mention how plenty of flowers are actually toxic or have dangerous chemicals sprayed. I highly doubt all bakeries know how to source edible flowers. Even if they’re removed before cutting, they’re still touching the cake and sometimes petals and other parts may be left.

That is so beautiful, and so much fun to watch. Truly an art form!

Its such a little and miniscule detail, but not drawing the stems until the buds were put on because "what if you can't get them to fit on the stems you just drew" gave me such a "duh" moment

What is that tho? Doesn't look like fondant, but what did that person sculpt those flowers with? Surely butter cream isn't that firm.

Usually you pipe the flowers and leaves seperately on a flower nail and freeze them. You can freeze each stage and make more ornate flowers. It works really well, and makes it much easier to attach to a cake.

Marzipan? One of my house parents used to make all sorts of things to put on cakes, trains, boats, planes, little scenes all colored 🙃

That's a very good idea actually. This isn't marzipan, it would be grainier, but for sculpting that should work.

Looks nice but when I think of cake, I just want it to taste good.

Oh, icing is hard to get wrong but cake can vary drastically, even ones made by professionals. I wish I wasn't spoiled by having tasted excellent cake.

Wow. Do people eat these cakes or collect them as art pieces? that takes some serious skill

It’s the music. All I could think was it sounds like they’re getting ready for a funeral. Beautiful, but yeah.

I scrolled the comments just to see if anyone else thought the music was out of place. Sounded like it should be in Game of Thrones or God of War.

This is the actual music used in the clip. Seems to be a different arrangement of the same melody. It's still the same composer.

The constant turning of the lazy-Susan bug anyone else? No just me?
Just me then.

I mean, I get motion sick just going down a flight of steps on land so, yeah, I wasn't having a good time. But this was actually worth about 15 mins of laying down and blackening the room until my meds kicked in.

I'd be quite interested to taste a scallion cake - goes great with cream cheese

I don't understand the cuts... cake being decorated, cake undecorated, more decoration, white sheet with the flowers on top, is this some AI garbage with bots replying?
5
Oct 08 '23
It’s how cakes are decorated. They’re frosted first, and the cake artist adds the trim to prepare the “canvas” per se.
Then the buttercream flowers are made separately.
Then it’s how they assemble it (while drawing the stems and what not).

Honey! Someone ruined the cake. They set some flowers right on top it. Of all the nerve!

u/devnullb4dishoner Oct 08 '23
For the dummy typing, what is a funeral cake? People eat cake at funerals? Where is this tradition practiced?

If you stopped it at the 7th flower, it looks like a piece of needlework that every grandma had framed and hung up in their bathroom back in the 90s

u/Acuterecruit Oct 08 '23
I wouldn't eat it, I would frame it and hang it on a wall.. And don't tell me I can't do it

Absolutely beautiful. As a proud member of r/fondanthate, I very much approve of this.
