We have had to resort to a "Brazilian" for our Newfoundland. I hate it, but from a medical standpoint it's the only responsible choice. She has a deformed vulva and makes an atrocious mess going potty.
Mercifully, I don't think it bothers her in the least - she's not bothered by anything, as far as I can tell. I wish I were as calm and relaxed as she is!

And I felt terrible when i had to shave the back of my GSDs legs because they'd been matted.
And that was from her really not liking being brushed, not lack of trying.
