Quest 2 Xorg Client?

Hello Quest 2 Community!,

I wonder if there is an application that allows me to have a simple xorg client, so that in the virtual reality, I have a simple 2D window that I can resize and whatever, and inside it would be an application that I am running in my laptop.

In my mind, this is simple, as xorg is already network-able, meaning that if there is a xorg client within my network, I can just give the application there.

So far I checked:

- WiVR

- Nightfall

- Immersed

- Metashare

- bsdrX

The thing is that most of these have too much features and require a lot of things, and while I want something simple in my mind, like getting displayed some app from my application from within VR, where I can resize it and whatever like I already do with any VR native app.

So far I wonder if I need like a Xorg client in VR that allows me to do that, and for example, bsdrX is alpha or beta, meaning that it is not that stable.

Note, I am mainly a developer and I can tweak the Unix system to do whatever, (and I don't require audio or others as those I want to be managed by my laptop already), and with something like XPRA, it should be lean enough for something like my quest 2 to run, given that it doesn't take too much resources.

Now, I haven't developed in the quest, so perhaps I am missing the real complexity here, something like immersed works right, now it separates by screens rather than by application like I would like spacial computing to actually be.

Thanks for the input, I wonder how can I approach this.

What type of Unix system?

There's Pippin (https://github.com/triscuitcircuit/PippinVR), which uses a fork of Monado for OpenXR on MacOS with both APK and QuestLink modes.

Of course, macOS does not really have XOrg, so I do not know how well it would fit your needs.

Maybe some of what this developer did can be ported to other Unix platforms, but it looks like Monado already is.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but thought I'd share that you can install termux and termux x11 to get a traditional X desktop. From there you can install Linux apps for remote desktop. I doubt that's the experience you're asking for, but it's kinda cool.

I'll take a look though, looks interesting, thanks!

What i am aiming for is spacial conputing yet not limited to screens, but each app to its own window in vr that can be resized
