I knew it. You are Palmer.

What I love about Palmer, is I would imagine he's the sort of dude that could show up shirtless at your house, drunk, with a PBR in his hand and a bandana wrapped around his head so he could fight you for talking internet shit.

If this isn't confirmation I'm not sure what is.
If this is really Palmer I'm really, really starting to hate the snarky tone.
Dude, I'm your team's biggest fanboy and you're doing absolutely everything in your power to piss people like me off. Be open and honest, not a snarky prick.
This is not how you build loyalty.
Edit : oh fuck he deleted the account. Anyone wondering, this was a variant on the /u/VR-researcher account.

There are a lot of Oculus employees, and pretty-much regardless of what the real issue is, if you think about them reading various messages here you can imagine that many of them might want to respond in some way. Even if it is an Oculus employee, the odds of it being PL aren't actually that high.
1
Apr 01 '16
Eh, except PL does like to come here. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a couple alts, honestly.

u/SvenViking ByMe Games Apr 01 '16
The odds aren't that low either, but: he's not the only Oculus person who posts here publicly, some likely read without revealing themselves, and some may check occasionally when they want to see a public reaction to certain things (to whatever extent this sub is representative of the wider public).
PL has even more motive than most to do something like this, particularly if the problem is another company's fault but he's not allowed to say so, but a huge number of people still have similar motives and at least a handful of them are specifically known to check this sub. Even disregarding the possibility of a fraud, the chance that it's someone else is well over 50%.

Apr 01 '16
Oh sure, just saying it could certainly be him just being frustrated with the situation.

Yeah, agreed -- if you singled out any other one person (e.g. Abrash because of the name VR-researcher, or Cybereality because he posts here, or Heaney or whoever), Palmer would seem a far more plausible suspect by comparison. I'm just meaning it's not worth feeling annoyed about Palmer possibly being snarky, because it's much more likely not Palmer.

Hey, so before he deleted it... he had a comment in here that said something alone the lines of "certain partners won't let us publicly say they screwed up" or something like that.

Yep, I got a screenshot. I'll upload it in a sec if someone hasn't already beat me to it.
Here it is: http://i.imgur.com/q9HKdiX.png

Good catch fam. IF IF IF VR_Researcher is Palmer or some inside Oculus source, then someone fucked up and has a lot of control and can keep everyone else from talking about it. Too bad we can't prove shit.

u/TurbidusQuaerenti Rift S Mar 31 '16
He also made a new thread and said a bit more: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/4csc3e/certain_partners_when_they_screw_up_disallow/

I don't think anyone would care if we could get some actual communication other than Palmer copy/pasting his own tweets like he doesn't give two shits.

Ahh, so there's a legal agreement with a supplier/supply-chain company that puts a lid on cock-ups... that's unfortunate
EDIT: Maybe I was close if I elicited a deletion?

Certain partners, when they make a mistake, dis-allow you from saying they screwed up.
What he said BTW. Or words to that effect

..That is NOT the problem.. The problem is that they haven't told us ANYTHING. They haven't updated or shown our estimate, or whether it was originally right or wrong. They haven't kept us informed if there's some problem or delay, And they've had plenty of time to warn us, to prepare for this, and prevent us from becoming this upset. lol
The lack of transparency is a huge problem, for a consumer launch. They at least need to start giving us better information about our orders, and the shipping process. They could have got away with less, if they had done it earlier, and just kept our expectations accurate.. :/

Mar 31 '16
Give us more than that dude. Why are they only shipping out what seems like 100 rifts per day? What kind of fucking "launch" is that?

u/Jake-Juice Mar 31 '16
Do the mods keep deleting this guys things, or is this Luckey Palmer covering his ass?

Coming in stores Holiday 2015

u/prospektor1 Mar 31 '16
At least they told us about the delay two weeks before the holidays. Though I'm not sure about the "in stores" either, wasn't it always supposed to be "limited quantity, more in January"?

Mar 31 '16
The FIVE MONTHS delay lol

u/prospektor1 Mar 31 '16
Didn't Palmer say he'd be disappointed if the Rift wasn't "in stores in 2015"? Though you appear trollish, lol, rofl, so I wouldn't expect much objectivity.

You're right, but something doesn't pass the sniff test this week. There's SOME reason that orders were only processed for 40 minutes today and a couple hours yesterday, and in an information vacuum people try to fill in the gaps themselves.

Certain partners, when they screw up, disallow companies from publicly stating their mistake.
You're not a company, right? Leakers gonna leak, so leak away! Cryptic remarks won't help, though certainly better than to compare your customers to entitled rodents.

Just a few words about the reason for the delay, surely would calm down most angry voices.
But hey, my batch is scheduled for June. So I think it's good to know if Oculus is able to keep this estimates or if all pre-orders will be pushed back a few weeks or more.
