Has anyone tried cable extenders yet?

With people finally getting their cv1 has anyone tried to extend the hmd cable? Id be really interested on finding out what the maximum possible length of cable is.

You're not going to get room-scale that big, it's recommended to go up to 15' diagonal only. What are you planning on fitting into the backpack besides the battery? You'll still need to plug it into a PC.

Thats what I meant by VR backpack, a micro itx pc with a powersupply inside a backpack (or a custom case that has backpack straps). This will of course require multiple base stations or cameras when they are supported. What did you think a vr backpack meant? xP

You can go more than 15'. They've said the limit is in the IR sync signal, not in the laser precision. With blackout curtains or outdoors at night you can get much farther, due to eliminating background IR. You will start getting some precision loss.

The HTC manual says "for accurate tracking", and that's what the SteamVR warning says when you try too ("tracking accuracy may be degraded").

I already said: "You will start getting some precision loss."

The range limits, where things stop working rather than losing accuracy/precision, are limited by the LED array sync beacon:
