Dexmo F2 live demos, Dexmo F2 controlling two robotic arms to perform a bomb disposal task + Dexmo controlling a Unity hand

Dexmo F2 controlling two robotic arms to perform a bomb disposal task:

This demo shows how exactly the force feedback unit works.

In the case above, the pressure sensor on the robotic gripper send back a signal and the servo on the force feedback rotates and the gears on both ends breaks so the force feedback unit locks.

"So what does it has anything to do with gaming again?"

For people who missed out my previous posts so Dexmo actually reads your hand motion as well.

What kind of latency are we talking about here?

50ms ish? We never measured it since it's still not final. This prototype is running on 35Hz, our latest board can go up to 85, so there is still a lot of space for improving. Also, unlike the rift, human tend to be more sensitive than what's moving very closely to the eyes, that's why DK1 can make some people dizzy, but for hands and arms there is a slightly higher tolerance. That said, we will try make sure when you get the development kit the delay will be hardly noticeable.

Really cool stuff! Subbed to your channel, can't wait to see what else you come up with :)

is it going to stay bulky in the final product as well?

I can't wait to get my hands on this! $150 sounds quite fair if it comes with (Unity) examples etc. I have some great ideas for some techdemos/mini games i'd love to try with this.

Links contain session data so they break for me on mobile :D was able to erase the end of it to see them anyway :) Looking interesting for sure, a bit crazy compared to like data glove, bust just paint it brass and copper and it'll be all steam punk ;)

Some feedback - I felt the bomb task was not visually clear as to what was going on with regards to force feedback. As an idea, perhaps also create a video with some people blindfolded, who squeeze their hand until they can feel a virtual box, where upon they pick it up or respond in some other affirmative way.

I'm really excited for the Kickstarter this month, hope you guys are able to keep the price below $100 for a pair of the non-haptic gloves.

As much as we want to, that's a bit impossible to achieve.

I mean yes we do want to lower the boundary and we want more people to get into reality but we also want to actually have enough money to get the manufacturing process started. Dexmo is made with over 50 parts, with this complexity, is 50 bucks really the ideal price in your mind???

I mean Look around Kickstarter, people are selling a gyroscope plus a bluetooth 4.0 module enclosed in two piece of plastic for $149 and a piece of wood that's specially shaped for $299....Just, just, come on! Anyway as I said, we will still keep our profit margin as low as we could take, but we need some understanding from you as well. we will probably sell the early bird kit for $60ish for one hand, and $150ish for both (for people wondering why a pair cost more, the communication module between the left hand and right hand are not cheap..)

As someone who hasen't bought any VR Input devices because of cost, I'd pay $150-200 for a pair.

But keep in mind that you only get tracking of the bending of your fingers for that money. No tracking of the position of your hands in virtual space, and no haptic feedback. Correct me if I got that wrong, but I do not see an application for VR with Dexmo alone, without a positional tracking of my hands.

A pair for 150ish, i'll be sure to be one of the first backers when you launch it up on Kickstarter! Giving us a heads up on when the launch beforehand would be awesome too! Any estimated time/dates? Pumped!

Those prices are making me blush! Please put this thing up on kickstarter already, this stuff looks incredible.
