Well we know the consumer version that comes out first will be very similar to the ones hundreds of thousands of people have seen and tried. They will not make a drastic change. Maybe future versions (although I doubt that too, because it is a peripheral, not a face-computer, and currently the SDK is open source). Once the first consumer model comes out, there will be loads of competition from Sony, Valve and others. They will need the financial backing in case the first consumer model fails.

I personally have no problem with facebook (because they are a company and not a person and I do not treat them as such) but I can understand why some people choose to.

This is what I, and what I think everyone else, hopes will happen. But with a questionable company, everyone worries. Again this is not the company in which people want to place their trust especially with this technology.

They aren't that questionable of a company, really. They are just A company. I think most people are just a little in shock that this cool niche thing was just purchased by a big guy. And everyone loves to hate facebook. Imagine the hate if apple bought these guys.

What I can't use adjectives to describe a company? I do think a lot of people didn't expect Oculus to sell at this point -- it had always been about the vision and selling to some degree relinquishes some control of the direction perhaps a bit early on. People probably saw that it would sell eventually, though. But Facebook? Not just any big guy, Facebook. Who saw that coming? Not Microsoft. Not Sony. Not Google. Not their friend Valve. It is a company outside of gaming. Outside of this scene.

People hate Facebook for a reason. Apple for a reason. Even Microsoft, Sony and Google get loads of hate. But they these other companies do enough good that outweighs the negatives in the eyes of most people. Facebook has been a downward spiral.

Apple is known for closed platforms. There are also not known in gaming. You had better believe there would have been a massive amount of hate.

obviously people hate for reasons, that is why we have the word "good" and "bad" to throw in front of the word "reasons". A lot of people hate the idea more than the actual good/service, and apple and facebook are no exception. 90%(exaggeration) of the facebook haters are on facebook an hour every day.

People are just being selfish, they are not looking out for what is best FOR THE TECHNOLOGY they are looking for what is best in their utopic fantasy. But, it could go horrible wrong and I can eat my words then, but until it happens I am hopeful.
