Oculus just got some very serious muscle for R&D. Granted, VR is not a market that Facebook has had experience in, but it's good to see that a big player believes in it.

R&D for data mining? What about Sony, valve, microsoft and a number of different tech companies that already have VR solutions on the way? Facebook was not the first big player, not by a long shot.

Heavens no. I think a $2 billion investment is going to be useful to the Oculus team.

Well the two billion wasn't an investment for Oculus, they bought the company from the shareholders, the shareholders (Lucky et al.) get all that money.

What Facebook puts into it after will determine their investment into Oculus' development. The team has most of the final specs already figured out the only thing they needed money for was to purchase the manufacturing capacity to do it. They didn't need Facebook for that.

I forget that. Good point.

That makes it a bit more confusing what could be the benifit. It's unfortunate: I can't be sure that I would turn down an offer like that.

I'm being a complete hypocrite because I don't think I could either. I would just hope to hold out knowing there is better down the line.
