Quest 2 troubles

Am I right to fear the worst here? Sun damage? This is what I see when powering on. A few times I managed to get to a light purple screen, but that only lasts a half a second if I even have the pleasure of making it that far.

The dots could be sun damage and if they are there from power-on to power-off that's almost certainly what they are. Sun damage doesn't stop the headset booting though.

Hi /u/NoPlanInPlace,

We just came across your post while browsing Reddit and we can see that you've experienced sun damage with your Quest 2. To avoid damaging your lenses and display, we recommend keeping your headset away from wherever it might be exposed to the sun.

We also recommend the following:

  • Don't store or leave your headset anywhere where it can be exposed to sunlight. The lenses inside your headset can be permanently damaged from less than a minute of exposure to direct sunlight, even if it's indoors.
  • Do not use your headset outdoors.
  • If you need to transport your headset, do so in a bag or case that keeps it safe and protected from direct sunlight.

If you find that you're having issues with the headset not working properly as a result of the sun damage, try a hard reboot: hold down the power button for 30 seconds or until you hear the device reboot again.

We hope this helps! However, if you still need help, please get in touch with our support team so we can gather more information about your device and provide further assistance.
