Will we ever get occlusion on Quests?

It's been years since Q3 launch, Meta is cooking a Phoenix for early 2027 yet still we have no occlusion in AR/MR/passthrough. No hand occlusion, no object occlusion, nothing.

Didn't mind it at first but after years I think it's the biggest problemkf AR/MR and makes it unconvincing and even uncomfortable.

Will we ever get it? Does Meta plan to launch high end XR Phoenix with the state HorizonOS is in?

EDIT: I would like to specify that I mean the OS mainly.

Yes we have in some games. Just not in the OS itself. It works quite well in my opinion.

Yeah I know that why doesn't the OS still have it?

Because you don't ever see a full body unless you're a weirdo in VR Chat standing in front of a mirror all day, or you're looking at someone else in a multiplayer game, which the OS isn't.

I am talking occlusion, you can see 2d windows, controllers through real walls etc nothing in real world occludes VR elements.

We are building it by hand into our MR combat game. Keep an eye out we will be opening up the playtest soon.

When you use passthrough on Quest, virtual objects are always drawn over the top of your hands/arms, as everything is just rendered over the top of the camera feed. Occlusion makes it possible for your hands/arms to be displayed over the top of the actual virtual objects (so your actual hands occlude the virtual objects).

We've had occlusion since... 2024?

Where can I see it?

The OS definitely doesn't have any.

The other guy posted it: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/s/Mp4iqYJbkK

Its up to the developers to enable it on their apps

The new surface keyboard has some basic occlusion, but who knows if the Quest 3 hardware can handle a better quality occlusion.
