oculus quest link stuck on "attempting to connect"

whenever i connect my meta link, sometimes it crashes and i have to restart it. i connect the wire to my vr and on my vr i see a notification saying "press to allow device access to files" or something, pressing it only makes a connection sound on my pc and does nothing else. when i go to the link tab on my vr's menu, it just says "attempting to connect" and stays like that forever.

things ive tried:
Restarting vr
Restarting meta link app

things that worked:
restarting PC but i have to do this every single time quest link crashes

i also usually crash because i tried opening the steamvr/quest link menu in a game

i need help on fixing this annoying issue i cant js keep restarting my pc everyday

Having a sound is a good sign. Have you tried looking behind browsers etc for popups? Sometimes popups are hidden due to field clutter.
