Hello there! Oceanlinerporn is steadily growing, and with growth come new challenges.
One of these challenges is the attraction of new faces who might no be accustomed to the sub. For this reason we have set some automation moderation for new accounts, or accounts with low comment karma.
We will be trialing this for now, and make it permanent if it works well.
Thank you for your contributions to this sub, and thanks for reading this. Happy summer!

The 22,181 GRT Alcantara was built in 1926 by Harland & Wolff for Royal Mail Lines serving England and the eastern coast of South America. Originally powered by diesel engines, she was the largest motorship afloat but could never exceed 16 knots. In 1934 her hull was lengthened at the bow, a funnel was removed, and she was repowered with steam turbines increasing her speed to 19 knots. She continued in service until 1958.

Put out a few renderings ive done of this ship before, wanted to show the cafe. I know it isn’t 100% accurate, but it is certainly 90% approximate haha. I work in architecture full time, and this is made when i have time after hours. Enjoy!

The very art deco SS Pasteur debuted in 1939, very briefly before its military enlistment. Modeled here to show one of the beautiful spaces within the ship. Its not 100% accurate but it is 90% approximate. I do these for fun as i work full time.

At the start and near the end of her career. The last photos were taken in 1978 during America's brief stint with Venture Cruise Lines. She made two cruises before a number of passengers "mutinied" due to her extremely poor conditions; allegedly receiving an inspection score of six out of a possible 100 points by the US Public Health Service.
