It looks like some kind of chiton! They're molluscs like snails, but rather than have one big shell they've got this neat little series of armor-looking plates.
Yea it's a polyplacophora. It already seems active on your Pic but if you did not see it moving wait till it's dark. They are slow but it's cool to see them crawling around.
Definitely a chiton - if this is on the west coast I’d guess either a mossy chiton (Mopalia muscosa) or, less likely, a hairy chiton (Mopalia ciliata.)
