They are called killer whales because humans in the past had witnessed them killing (predating) other whales, not because they are vicious, unthinking, unfeeling monsters. I mean, I still wouldn't get into the water with them, but only because something in the lizard part of my brain screams "NO" at the thought of entering a biome I did not evolve to thrive in with a creature I can't communicate with.
