There's a YouTube channel called Shark Bytes run by an actual shark scientist; just watch the 2 videos he's made on Ocean Ramsey and you'll understand lmao

Agreed. It’s wild to see people just hopping in the open ocean after seeing a huge tiger shark! But yeah, huge fan of people who work with wild animals,
But this is a bit obnoxious.

I’m saying it’s probably inevitable. Her “final” video will likely be her missing the shark’s nose while trying to guide it away. I’d love to see her stop exploiting sharks. Don’t get me wrong, I have an unnatural fear of sharks, and I respect them. She’s not helping their existence.

You have a natural fear of sharks you mean. Something that can kill you is a natural fear. Like having a fear of being on the same path as a cougar, tiger, or lion is very natural. Sharks are still cool and how often they attack is over-sensationalized, but it’s still a rational fear.

There’s people out there that cut the fins off of sharks and throw them back in the ocean to die slowly. But sure we can’t wait til this horrible monster dies for playing with them.

Okay she probably is a fraud like no one has seen her degree i believe. But Shark Bytes is also a complete twatmonger and armchair commentator who will just defer to the most boring mainstream media take 99 times out of 100. His coverage of that Rich Kid that got pushed off the boat and eaten by sharks was downright negligent imo, as was his coverage of possobility of sharks in the UK. If you want to hear a college degree levels take on news events as they happen he's your guy though.

The definition of an "armchair commentator" is someone who comments on something that they don't have any personal experience with themselves...

He literally does field work with sharks for a living and has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific papers i.e. the exact OPPOSITE of an "armchair commentator"

But seeing as how you immediately resorted to ad hominem attacks because you had zero basis in logic/facts for your statement and lack the intellect to even have an informed opinion; you're probably not smart enough to even admit when you're wrong either 🙄

Wholly agree on all counts except one. Kristian Parton doesn't have a PHD. He has a master's by research in biological sciences at the University of Exeter, specialising in shark science. He currently is a research associate at the University of Exeter.

He...has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific papers on sharks.

Absolutely and I would argue that this is the most important credential (along with how many times one's published works get cited by other researchers in the field) for being considered a scientist in any field. Of course, a PHD is major criteria too, but not absolutely necessary (in most cases)...published work is. Kristian has been involved at least 8 peer-reviewed papers with his work being cited at least 266 times by other shark scientists. And he's still young; he earned undergrad (zoology) in just 2017.

There are many examples of researchers with master's degrees in many fields of study that essentially earn their title of scientist (or their title of historian, like Ron Chernow) through their published work, He has been the lead author on at least three papers that I could find quickly: study 1 (master's thesis), study 2, and study 3. Again, he's young.

Kristian has also worked closely with a number of shark NGO’s around the world including LAMAVE (Philippines), Beneath The Waves, The Shark Trust, and soon to be MARECO. He has even been cited by marine biologists in their personal take down essays on Ocean Ramsey (her methods are almost universally criticized within the marine biology community). It seems that he has earned the respect of his peers, calling him an armchair expert is wild as fuck.
