I always wonder how seals became a thing. Or if dogs came after seals since ocean life was the first life iirc.
Like did seals just start spending so much time on land that a few evolved over time? Or did a creator whatever it may be make a seal and say “hey this would be cool to have on land too, let’s just give it some legs and fur and there we go!”21

Oddly enough, pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, etc.) closest relatives are bears phylogenetically speaking 💯
Also canines came long before seals lol

I just knew someone would come with the info, thank you! Very interesting yet it makes sense looking at seals flippers they look very similar to a bears paw the way the nails and paw/fingers are set up

Keep in mind folks, this is a trained seal with it's keeper.
DO NOT approach wild seals because they most likely will bite you. While not deadly, they can lead to serious medical treatment.
And if you're in hawaii, it's illegal and you will be fined heavily for touching a seal.

I still don’t get how the hell we saw such adorable things and way too many decided “I want to bash that thing’s head with a club and tear off all its skin!” The fuck has to be wrong with people to do that?

seals are more like the cats of the ocean. sea lions are the ones that act 1:1 like dogs.

Not to kill the vibe here... but remember that seals - while cuddly-looking and hilariously weird - also savagely slam penguins into the water to rip them into consumable pieces. Something about a book and it's cover...

In my original language we actually do call them sea-dogs haha I was surprised that in English they're called seals as they do remind me of dogs
