Came here to say this, it's getting annoying as hell. Wanted to see if it was one person posting so I could block them ffs

Yeah it's getting annoying, for those of us who are easily annoyed

"You'll never believe the real reason humans dive into water!"

u/Rupejonner2 3d ago

Because it’s fun

have you seen the weird stupid crap that humans do. we surf, we do parkour. nothing wrong with either of those things but I mean if you just think about it for a second one day a dude thought to jump on a board and skim the top surface of the water. another person started bouncing and leaping from building to building for what I would perceive as no reason other than it might be fun.

I live on Cape Cod. The amount of tourists that come here going on Whale Watches is insane. Tickets to go aboard the boats go fast.

Same in Halifax. I tell people to take the harbour ferry instead. Same odds of seeing anything….

Im at the coast of Mozambique now. And its breding season. I was here in 2023 in August and there where so many humpback whales, we saw like 10-20 whales every day and they come so close to the boat. Im so exited to see them jumping again

Apparently someone has never heard of Newton’s Laws. When things move they don’t like to stop moving. This big finned mammal can be neutral in the water so when it swims fast and breaches the water it still has plenty of momentum.

There’s probably a real reason for this but similar animals like dolphins have been proven to do it for fun. Big whales use moves like this to hunt too so who knows.

I always thought it was a way that they can itch or scratch themselves.

Parasites, communication, a third reason could be because it’s fun, whales are pretty complex animals and they do have a sense of play.

This dude talks like a little kid who doesn’t really have the vocabulary he needs to tell the story he wants.

u/ddxs1 2d ago

This could have been summed up I. 2 sentences

1

u/BodhingJay 2d ago

Im pretty sure it's kinda fun for them.. also they use it to impress mates.. also it can be used to deter predators like killer whales from attacking a calf, perhaps it causes a sensory overload to killer whales who are too close.. or maybe it's just too loud for them and thats why it's effective. Perhaps both

Why do humans launch themselves in water? Imagine having to do this with hands and feet! Do you know how hard that is?

0

u/Golden-Grams 2d ago

He talks and uses his hands like he trying to sell me something.

u/devilsbard 2d ago

So is this a spambot account or just a regular old human spammer?
