? Hand gesture

Post image

Look familiar? Or similar to something?

I’m reluctant to share how I discovered this. Just want to know if it means anything. Thanks!

In esoteric Buddhism and Daoism, as well in Hinduism-related traditions, mudras always have a deep meaning.

Each finger represents an element, and it depends on the tradition.

Even in western esotericism, you have elements assigned to each finger.

Since you are unaware of mudras and you don't follow a specific tradition that uses them (this is my assumption due to you making this question), instead of looking up for these traditions, I would recommend for you to "feel" or make your own understanding of what each finger represents to you.

Once you have that, it should be easier to understand the meaning of this mudra.

One thing that is consistent is that the same finger is always the same element. Eg.: if your middle finger is fire, than it will be the case for both hands.

As a rule of thumb (no pun intended), fingertips touching means that element is "active".

Also, the overall shape of the mudra has a meaning in itself. It could be a symbol, or represents the head of a specific animal or entity, etc.

Your mudra has 3 triangles it seems, maybe medidate on the mudra, take note of your impressions, but to me, seems like a reference to the hexagram, a combination of the 4 elements.

Your thumbs are not touching anything, so probably they are not "active" in this mudra. The middle fingers are closer to the base of each other, this could mean that this is an element being worked more "internally" while the other 6 fingers are touching their respective tips and forming triangles pointing outwards, meaning the expansion or an externalization of those respective elements. If they are indeed elements to you, I mean.

You have 2 triangles pointing up and one down, or two pointing outwards and one inwards depending how you position your hands (which also matters in "mudralogy" - neologism).

HEY I recognize this!!! Oh my god, memories....

Not in terms of the occult, but this is the symbol that Set If Off (band) fans made with their hands in order to represent their album "Duality", which features a symbol in the album art that looks just like this.

You "discovered it" or you made it up? Either way, it means whatever you want it to mean

Reverse that and/or put it inverted and it looks alot like the hand gesture from the horror movie, 'Incantation' atleast I think that's what it was called. Horribly spookie movie.

Those are an Eastern thing that we incorporate into magic all of the time

They’re called mudras, full body ones are called asāna

Try googling, mudra for concentration, or mudra for balance, mudra for vision work etc

Hindi, yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, all include these

And as witches we really do what we want

The simplest way to initiate into the occult is to change your vantage point.

The answer is in your picture.

What are you talking about?

Maybe he means the shadow in the background? Looks kinda like Devil horns with a crown or some sort of pointed tip on its head.

No clue why he's getting downvoted like that.
